SRI Technology

The program ‘Sustainable Livelihood for Tribal’ is being conducted in the project area. For agricultural development in the area the organization is conducting trainings, exposures and other technical support to farmers. Being motivated one of the farmers named Shri Mansaram Nag adopted SRI Technology (Madagascar) of paddy cultivation.

He says, “I was trained and inspired by PRERAK organization and started paddy cultivation in 0.12 hec. land area with Prerak’s technical support. At first I used cow dung (one ton) in my land. I brought 12 days old paddy sapling from the nursery and planted. Regularly I took care of my cultivation. In proper time I used organic pesticide to avoid various diseases caused by insects.

In the beginning other farmers laughed at me. But after cropping the production increased to double as compared to previous year cultivation. Those who laughed at me were astonished. Next time I will cultivate in 2 acres of my land using the SRI Technology. Other two farmers named Fulsingh Sahu and Virjhuram Dhrub have showed their interest in this improved method of SRI Technology.
