Activities of Prerak on Disability

Initiating inclusive RTE age group covered (0-18) years in four Districts of the state Chhattisgarh since 2003 to onwards.
Under this program primarily a special attention is provided to make avail the facility of education at the door steps of the visually impaired children and advocacy with government is undertaken by the efforts of the organization for ensuring provision of appropriate educational, health and social benefits to visually impaired children. It includes the levels of education such as Developmental Education/ Early Intervention Programs, Pre Primary, Primary, middle and Secondary as well as Higher Secondary etc. At present 323 students are enrolled under this programme and continuing education under the direct supervision of the staff’s member and at the different schools. PRERAK Provides Home bound services to the students of visually impaired and additional disabilities. The operational areas are covered by Magarload block of Dhamtari district and all the blocks of Raipur, Balodabazar and Gariaband. Assessment is carried out to find the severity of the blindness to provide supportive assistance in form of concession, loan, pension, and other benefits from the government. With the efforts of the organization the visually impaired children are continuing education in the schools under SSA programme and also enrolled in the district inclusive education progrmme implemented by the organization with the support of sight saver international Bhopal.
